I began showing dogs in 2009, but have been evolved in the animal show world in one way or another since I was a child.  I started in the dog show world with a St. Bernard, but when Annie passed away at age 10, I felt I needed a new direction.

In 2011 I welcomed a baby puppy named Miriam into our home. She grew into a beautiful girl and the foundation of our breeding program.  As such it was only fitting that  out kennel name be named after her, Int. CH/ BOSS Am GCHB CH Shekinah Strong Waters ROM call name "Miriam". Miriam was bred and placed with us by Jay Van Zandt of Shekinah Alaskan Malamutes. I will forever be grateful to him for having entrusted her to me.  She is an International Champion,  AKC  Grand Champion Bronze level,  Best Opposite in Specialty Show winner, Multiple AKC group placer and in 2016 she earned her Alaskan Malamute Club of America , Register of Merit (ROM) for having produced  five AKC Champions of  Record. We could not have asked for a better or more solid foundation to build on.

Strong Water Malamutes is a family based hobby enjoyed by my husband Kevin Schireman, son Alex Ross (Age 7), and nieces Emily Flores,  Ashlyn & Madison Reeves . All of our dogs are family. The breeding , training and showing of our dogs is very much a family activity. Our dog live in our home with us ,we do not own a "Kennel", you will find our dogs in our beds , on our couches  or running in the back yard when not in a show ring. It is my intent as a breeder and owner of these wonderful animals to; work with, love, exhibit, enjoy, and produce beautiful, sound -tempered, healthy, and "correct" Alaskan Malamutes which remain true to the AKC Breed Standard. I strive to produce examples which are sound of mind and body, who are capable of  the original work , therapy, breed education, competition, and companionship! Each of our dogs in an ambassador of the breed where ever it travels and we take that responsibility very seriously. Visit our about us page to find a little information about each of us. Please feel free to approach us  at shows or from this website to inquire about our dogs. Attending an AKC show is a great way to learn more about a breed you are interested in and meet great people.
